Subitec GmbH is further expanding its technology leadership by establishing and operating pilot plants and production facilities. The systems are installed on behalf of customers or cooperation partners in the energy industry.
Through the construction of these plants, Subitec GmbH has also developed valuable engineering solutions on industrial application levels, for which patent protection was obtained.
In a multi-year pilot project, EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG and Subitec GmbH jointly researched the potential to bind CO2 with micro-algae. In FPA reactors with a total volume of 4.32 m³, the CO2 of an agricultural biogas plant was processed to algae. The aim of the project was to investigate the energy balance and the economy of algae production in order to determine the suitability of the process for the binding of CO2 from power stations. In the 5-year research project of E.ON Hanse, Subitec GmbH used the infrastructure and logistics on the E.ON site in Hamburg to build an algae production plant with a total volume of 1.44 m³. The symbiosis of power-, biogas- and micro-algae plants, the CO2 from power plants generated during the production of heat and electricity is tied into the micro-algae. These algae, are used as biomass for the gas production in the biogas plant. The fermentation residues from the biogas plant are used again as fertilizer for the growth of the algae. In this way a material and energetic use of the algae biomass is possible. Details
Vattenfall / GMB
The algae cultivation system in Senftenberg/Germany was put into operation with the Vattenfall subsidiary GMB as part of the algae research project "green MiSSiON". With the help of the micro-algae cultivated in the FPA reactors, the carbon dioxide is bound from the flue gas of the brown coal power plants and the emission of CO2 is thereby reduced. Details
